DHL Plans a Healthcare Logistics Expansion
DHL plans EUR2 billion of healthcare logistics investment through 2030. The programme covers temperature-controlled capacity and a wider specialist network.

DHL Group plans to invest EUR2 billion in healthcare logistics through 2030. Announced in Bonn on 7 April 2025, the programme combines infrastructure and technology investment under the DHL Health Logistics sector brand.
Regional allocation
- The Americas: 50% of the planned investment.
- Asia Pacific: 25%.
- Europe, the Middle East and Africa: 25%.
Temperature-controlled capacity
Priorities include pharmaceutical hubs, additional cold-storage capacity, temperature-controlled vehicles and packaging. The programme extends across storage, order fulfilment and delivery, with information systems supporting shipment visibility.
Specialist courier agreement
On 31 March, DHL and Cryoport announced an agreement for DHL to acquire 100% of CRYOPDP, together with a strategic partnership. Both remain subject to regulatory approvals.
CRYOPDP specialises in courier services for clinical trials, biopharmaceuticals and cell and gene therapies. The announcement described operations in 15 countries and more than 600,000 annual shipments, serving destinations in over 135 countries.
Connecting specialist services
The proposed arrangement would combine that courier expertise with the air capabilities of DHL Express and DHL Global Forwarding. Cryoport's specialised supply-chain services would complement DHL's international healthcare logistics network.
About the group
DHL reported 2024 revenue of EUR84.2 billion, up 3%, in its annual results released on 6 March. Operating profit was EUR5.9 billion, compared with EUR6.3 billion in 2023. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 6.4% to EUR22.7 billion, while operating profit increased 12.9% to EUR1.9 billion.
Those results describe the wider group's completed financial year. The healthcare commitment concerns a separate, forward-looking investment programme; its EUR2 billion allocation should not be read as revenue or expenditure already recorded in the annual results.
