The London Library Opens a Room for Learning and Events

The London Library has opened a permanent room for its events and learning programmes in London, United Kingdom. The New Room opened on 3 June 2026, according to the Library's announcement published the following day. The opening completes the first phase of the Building Connections project. The Library said the room would also house its Emerging Writers Programme. Fundraising for a second phase, including a refurbished members' room, an accessible lift and a roof garden, was still ahead.

The project's planning FAQ described uses ranging from school visits and member-group meetings to workshops and private hire. It also explained that the room's location and facilities were chosen to limit disruption, and that external users would not have free access to the rest of the Library.

Separate work in the Times Room

On 5 June, the publication date of this account, the Times Room's scheduled reopening was still three days away. Meanwhile, the newly opened programme room provided a separate setting for events and learning activities.
