Inside Soyuzmultfilm’s New Animation Museum

An interactive Museum of Animation has opened at the Soyuzmultfilm studio in Moscow. Interfax reported the opening on 2 July 2026. Marking the studio's 90th anniversary, the exhibition introduces the stages of making an animated film, from an idea and character development to combining individual elements into a finished story.

Production becomes part of the exhibition

According to the agency, the space is designed primarily for children. Adults have a separate information section covering studio history and animation techniques. This approach places a familiar screen image alongside the specialist work behind its creation.

For a visitor attraction, that is a meaningful distinction: recognising a character and discovering a profession offer different experiences. In the first case, the starting point is a film already seen; in the second, it is a question about how the film was made. A museum narrative can bring those interests together within one visit, without requiring the guest to arrive with a background in film production.
