Wildberries Opens Sales of Ethiopian Products to Russian Buyers

Wildberries has opened sales from Ethiopia to Russian buyers. The launch follows a cooperation agreement, while trade in the opposite direction remains planned.

Wildberries & Russ has launched sales of goods from Ethiopia to buyers in Russia, according to Interfax on 8 April 2026. Company representatives estimated delivery at roughly two weeks, depending on the item.

The first trading direction

Sales in the opposite direction were described as a second phase planned for later in 2026. The two stages should therefore remain separate when describing what sellers can do now.

The first phase covers coffee, textiles, leather goods and accessories, cosmetics and home decor. Buyers can compare the descriptions and delivery estimates on individual listings; the roughly two-week estimate in the launch announcement is a guide, not a fixed arrival date for every item.

Cooperation preceded the sales launch

In a statement dated 14 November 2025, Ethiopian Investment Holdings described a memorandum with Wildberries covering adaptation of the platform to the Ethiopian market and cooperation on logistics, digital infrastructure and investment initiatives. That earlier document concerned the framework for cooperation; the April report supplies the subsequent sales announcement.

Questions for an individual purchase

  • Does the description identify the product clearly?
  • What delivery estimate applies to the selected item?
  • Which purchase conditions are shown before ordering?

Commercial results come later

The next evidence of the channel's development would be fulfilled orders, an established assortment and repeat purchasing. Availability alone does not reveal how customers will respond to unfamiliar products or which categories will attract sustained demand. Neither the partnership statement nor the launch should be read as a completed assessment of that demand.

For businesses following the development, the immediate change is access to a selling channel. Its longer-term significance will depend on how the offer works in ordinary transactions, including whether the products and delivery arrangements meet customers' expectations.
